When Stanley Grier passed away in the Donegal Hospice at the weekend he was surrounded by his close and loving family circle who deeply mourn his passing. For a decade or more Stanley’s faithful and loyal companion was his beloved dog, Maisie. She was his trusted companion - always by his side on a thousand of journies as he answered callouts across the north west putting so many homes back in the picture. She didn’t mind that Stanley was never in a hurry as he drank one more cup of tea. And it was fitting that Maisie was by his side in that unique bond of friendship as his life’s journey ended in the loving care of family and staff in the Hospice. And as she gazed across their ten years of friendship, she gently licked Stanley’s hand in those final moments of his life’s journey… one last farewell in that bond of friendship that knows no boundaries. Stanley lived in the family home at Hillcrest, overlooking Lough Swilly. An idyllic place coming alive with the colours in the garden by the front door for another season in a setting of unsurpassed beauty. Stanley was in his seventies and a huge part of the character of Ramelton - working all his life amongst the community and he was proud to help many of the town’s fundraisers down the years.
