A marathon four-day 310 miles charity vintage tractor run from Kerry to Donegal finished up with a huge welcome home to Churchill on Sunday afternoon. The charity fundraiser was organised in memory of a Churchill man who raised a lot of money himself for very worthy causes. With money still to come in, the final figure is expected to be well over €25,000. James Russell passed away a year ago from cancer. His brother-in-law Terence McClintock promised James that he would undertake a charity event for him to raise money for the hospices in Donegal and Kerry. Terence, who is a Funeral Director based in Convoy led the tractors into Churchill village and punched the air in satisfaction at what he had achieved in memory of a much loved brother-in-law. He was driving a David Brown tractor that was in the Russell family for many years and every time James came back to Churchill he would head to the shed where it was kept. The vintage run is raising money for the Kerry and Donegal Hospices. James passed away at the Tralee Hospice a year ago on May 29, 2025. He was originally from Churchill but had lived in Ballyheigue, Kerry for over 30 years.
