The Lennon Festival Committee has issued a statement to reassure everyone that this year’s event is going ahead as planned and advertised. The official opening will be on Thursday the 9th of July by Donegal Person of the Year, Packie Keeney (below). Despite the fact that the area around Gamble’s Square remains under construction the committee hopes that the authorities will live up to their verbal undertakings that the Square will be ready. They said it was very disappointing that a voluntary committee trying to provide entertainment and bringing business into the town has to go through this situation as they prepare for their 55th Festival. They have been working hard booking bands and the general organising involved in an event as big as the Lennon Festival. The promotional booklet is going into it’s final stages and will published in the last week of June.
