Launch of Dermot Walsh book of poetry in Carrigart

Retired Parish Priest Fr. Charlie Byrne had the honour of launching Dermot Walsh’s poetry book ‘In The Wind Listening’ in the Carrigart Hotel last Saturday. Susan’s nephew, Colin Murphy, husband of publisher Ruth Hegarty was the MC. He said “We all knew that Dermot was a bard but most of us didn’t know he was a poet and it was his ambition to publish a book and following his death, Susan took on that role.” He recalled working as a barman in the hotel for the summer of 1992. Fr. Charlie Byrne said he was very proud to be asked to launch the book. The title of the Book ‘In The Wind Listening’ was one of several Dermot himself suggested but never got to choose. He said its a great credit to Susan for putting the book together - its a beautiful, significient collection. Its not just a launch of a book but a celebration of Dermot’s lift through poetry. He said that he was privileged to have lived close to Dermot as a neighbour for 25 years and enjoyed many interesting discussions with him during that time.
